Principal's Report
Term 2
Thank you to all parents, carers and family members who attended our Open Classrooms this week as we celebrated Education Week across our two campuses. This year’s theme is ‘Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate’, which celebrates physical activity, hands-on learning and student voice in education.
You may have heard that your child has had a different teacher at some stage over the recent weeks. Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing high levels of staff and student absences at a level like mid-2022. There are an increasing number of COVID -19 cases as well as the colds and general sicknesses that come when the weather becomes colder.
Please use a rapid antigen test (RAT) with your child if they
- have symptoms of COVID-19 infection, no matter how mild
- are a household or close contact of someone who has COVID-19
- are a social contact of someone who has COVID-19.
Parents of positive students should report a positive result to their school and this information will be passed on to the classroom teacher. Staff and students who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved. There is no longer a requirement for principals to inform the school community of a positive case associated with the school. COVID-19 continues to be a significant challenge for us all and with increasing number of unwell children and staff, we need to work together to ensure that we can operate the school effectively.
Student Opinion Survey
The Attitudes to Schools Survey (AtoSS) is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
This year, the AtoSS will be conducted at our school from 22nd May to 2nd June for students in years 4-12.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you do not wish for your child to do the survey, please opt out via email to your school: Jason.Coningsby@education.vic.gov.au.. Please do so before 22nd May, stating that you wish to opt out of your child’s participation, along with their name and year level.
If your school does not receive a Refusal of Consent email from yourself before 22nd May, it means that you give your consent for your child to participate in the 2023 Attitudes to School Survey.
Please contact the school if you would like to see the survey before making your decision about whether you would like your child to participate.
School Camping Program
The School Council is currently reviewing our school camping program. An online survey will be distributed to all parents/carers next week seeking your opinion on the frequency, duration and destination of our camps. The feedback you provide will be carefully considered so please take a few minutes to complete this survey.

Wearing of School Uniform
This is a reminder that it is compulsory for all students to wear the full school uniform each day and that the school uniform policy is strictly enforced. As the weather is becoming cooler, please check to ensure that you have the correct uniform to keep your child warm.
Our Student Representative Council requested that a school beanie be made available. I’m pleased to advise that a beanie is now part of our school uniform. These are available for purchase for $25.
Please contact Melanie Jackson in the office at the Bundoora Campus on 94673972 regarding purchases of uniform. Further information, including policies and price lists, can be found through the school website at School Uniform - Concord School
