Meet our Captains
We're continuing to introduce our 2023 Year 12 Captains to the school community. This edition, we have the pleasure in introducing Rue, Sakura and Hattie.
Rue K, College Captain
Currently studying: English, Math Methods, Indonesian with the Victorian School of Languages and Psychology at the University of Melbourne in conjunction with the Centre for Higher Education Studies. This rounding out my study load, having completed Year 12 Business Management and Psychology last year.
About me: I have always had an interest in what makes our world tick… how people of our planet are motivated and moved. My passion for foreign language and different cultures stemming from my overseas travel experiences. I have visited 25 countries, with another on the near horizon – including Indonesia eleven times and multiple others more than once. A few highlights include visiting Eisriesenwelt, the world’s largest ice cave in Austria, a day walking in Kyoto, Japan with the last samurai, Jo Okada and swimming with manta ray at Ningaloo in WA. However, hands down my favourite travel experience to date was spending Diwali, the festival of lights with a local family in Varanasi on my second, six-week trip to India. All this attributing to my strong sense of self, shaping my perceptions and enhancing my fascination for the travel and aviation sector, commerce and global affairs.
Sakura B, College Vice Captain
Currently studying: This year, I am currently studying English, Japanese, Legal Studies, Psychology and Sociology. My favourite subject is Legal Studies due to the many intricacies in the legal system.
About me: This year, I hope to be a strong voice by acting as a compassionate role model for all those in our community. I have a huge interest in law and being a lawyer when I finish year 12, hopefully studying at Melbourne University in 2024. I am very proud to have been given the opportunity to represent this school as Vice Captain, and hope to continue to fulfill my captaincy role through to the end of this year.
Hattie P, Language Captain
Currently studying: English, Mathematical Methods, Japanese, Physics and Psychology at VSV.
About me: I became the Language Captain this year to utilise the position to encourage students to continue studying a language as a subject beyond the compulsory years. I have found that it is a great opportunity with many academic as well as physiological benefits. I am also a part of the SRC as I am passionate about the everlasting improvement of our school and its environment. In the future, I hope to join the Defence Force and pursue a role in the Air Force with the dream of piloting one of their remarkable aircraft.
