Agriculture taster #2
Eight interested year 9 students attended the Cert III Agriculture Taster on Thursday 1st June at two working farms in Baynton and Barfold. The glorious winter weather made for a pleasant day exploring the sheep and cattle farms. Along with students from Kyneton Secondary, students learned about the broad scope of careers an agricultural qualification can lead into: Farm Hand, Farm Tradesperson, Farm Supervisor, Farm Manager, Regional Farm Manager, Crop Protection Specialist, Public Relations Consultant in Agribusiness, Agricultural Entomologist, Agricultural Inspector, Agricultural Microbiologist, Stock Agent, Agricultural Engineer, Agricultural Scientist, Officer.
The Cert III Agriculture course is a School based Apprenticeship and will run in 2024 at Kyneton Football Grounds Clubrooms on a Wednesday 9am to 4pm. Students need to be 15+ years of age to commence this traineeship. Students will learn both inside and outside the classroom about fencing, managing livestock, cropping production, animal handling, viticulture, horticulture, land management projects on site at an active farm.
The cost is covered by the Department of Education. The only fees will be uniform and transport to and from the venue. Please contact Kathy Gossip VET Coordinator if you would like more information.
