Grade 2

Leanne Scott &  Michele Bowes

This term year 2 have been looking at reading and writing persuasive texts and different genre text types in literacy. In numeracy we looked at time in months, seasons and reading time to the quarter hour. We also explored addition and subtraction and how they relate to each other, while understanding the language around chance. We had Bunnings bring some pansies and pots with decorative paints to do some potting of plants so we could take a special little gift home for our mothers and special people for mothers day.In our inquiry unit this term, we explored places and spaces in our community, looked at who can keep us safe and explored our local community on google maps and google earth. We had a very exciting visit from the South Belgrave CFA, who taught us their important role in our community, showed us their equipment and truck and sprayed some of us with the fire hose. We concluded our inquiry unit with the planning and design of our very own 3D paper towns, which are now displayed on the wall outside the 2B classroom. Please do come and have a look at our wonderful work in the BER.We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parent helpers who have come in to do literacy circles and individual reading with students. You play an important role in our literacy program and we are very grateful for offering your time. Thank you also to Cassidy, our work experience student from St Margarets Berwick Grammar who has been an amazing help in our classroom this week.

Warmest Regards,

Leanne Scott
