Japanese

In Japanese this term students in Grade 2 have been able to order juice, entirely in Japanese! They spoke in full sentences, stating they were thirsty and would like a fruit juice. With impeccable manners, too!

The Grade 3 and 4 students continued on a culinary journey and made some traditional Japanese rice snacks called ‘Onigiri’. They used their Japanese to say what they are eating, as well as customary statements before and after eating (Ittadakimasu. Gochisousamadesu). We all had lots of fun, had a go at using chopsticks, and were able to apply our learning while we were at it.

Grade 5 and 6 students showed off their acting skills in anticipation for the Production. They acted in the traditional Russian folktale titled ‘The Big Turnip’, translated into Japanese as ‘Ooki na Kabu’. All students were very engaged in the task and some went on to perform the play, with adaptations, at assembly. Very impressive!
