Short Story Competition

Australian Arabic Cultural Forum

This year our school participated in an Annual Short Story Competition in fiction and non-fiction. The Australian Arabic Cultural Forum sponsored this competition and it was open to both English and Arabic speaking communities for age groups between 12-18. The objectives of the competition were to discover new literary voices, encourage creativity, and exchange intellectual knowledge between the Arabic community and other communities in Australia.

There were more than 56 contestants in this competition from different high schools.

Students from different year groups participated in this competition, and managed to write stories in their own languages, English or Arabic.  As a result, Cecil Hills High School students made it to the final!

On Sunday 18th June, students and their parents are invited to visit Lurnea Community Hub to celebrate their achievements. During this event, students will receive their medals and be recognised for their achievement.  Coffee, Moroccan tea and sweets will be available.

On behalf of the Cecil Hills High School community, I would like to congratulate the students on their achievement. If you would like to celebrate the achievement of our students, please let Ms Naim know. I will be the guest speaker for this event to celebrate the success of Cecil Hills High school and to encourage the future writers to be diligent and strive toward their goal.
