Endeavour House News

At Endeavour House, we are settling into our routines, and everyone is ‘in the swing’ of boarding, school and Albany life. Winter sport season is upon us, and I see the Endeavour girls striving to be their best at games and training each week, well done to everyone. Whilst I’ve been really pleased with how the girls are working in Prep (study) – it is a practiced discipline and a work in progress for everyone. I encourage all students to be patient and maintain a positive/growth mindset. Believing you can do something is half the battle! To check out a video on Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset click here

Reflection and SMART Goal Setting

It has been wonderful working with Endeavour House over the last couple of weeks on SMART Goals and I praise the girls for their considered and reflective approach to completing this task. It was important for everyone to write goals that they were passionate about, unique to each person. They understand that this was an opportunity for them to clarify ideas, focus their efforts, use their time and resources productively, and increase their chances of achieving what they want in life. Most people chose to address three goals; academic, personal and sporting/extra curricular. Some goals are short-term (for Term Two only), we will revisit these, as the year progresses and as focuses change. I encourage parents to discuss these goals with their young person and encourage them all the way!

National Boarding Week

Endeavourians were really up and about for National Boarders Week this week, keen to celebrate everything that is unique, challenging, funny and special about living in a boarding house. We had lots of chats about why and how boarding in the Great Southern is different, compared to some other areas of Australia - I think the pig-on-the-spit for dinner says it all really!

Being a Boarder

"Boarding is such a unique experience and can be completely different for each person and can provide you with so many life-changing experiences, such as having the confidence to do things independently. Some people adore boarding and find it such a positive experience, but for others it can be really challenging being away from family. Boarding is an experience that most won’t regret doing."

Recreation

Endeavour House is really embracing the Term Two recreation offerings, which has been great to see! A trip to the Orana Cinemas, Emu Point Big 4 Water Splash Park/mini golf/big pillow, Sunday sight-seeing drives, Mother’s Day card making, visits to the school farm to collect the produce and eggs, lots of in-house baking, are just a few things which have kept the boarders busy.

Birthdays

So far this term, we have had just one birthday, many happy returns to Camdyn Tapscott.  Alira Savage and Stella Altham were also lucky enough to have their birthdays in the school holidays.  Best wishes to all.

Thank you to all the wonderful families I am getting to know, please give me a call or email if you have any questions or queries.
