Upcoming Learning

During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in following areas:

Reading	Week 4- 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Catastrophe!' Using this mentor text to focus on inferring, visualising and predicting. -Phonics 'oi' digraph. Week 5- Persuasive texts. We will be using the Pigeon books to explore persuasive text features and language, including 'Don't let the pigeon drive the bus!' -Phonics 'oy' digraph.
Writing	Week 4- Narrative writing. We will be summarizing what we have learnt in our Narrative unit and writing our final pieces. Week 5- Poetry. We will be exploring different poetry styles and writing our own poetry on areas of interest.
Maths	Week 4- Counting, focusing on skip counting. -Location and positional language. Week 5- Addition and Subtraction. - Collecting and graphing data.
Science/Inquiry	Week 4- Sunrise/sunset Observing changes in the sky - From farm to table- Where does dairy come from? Week 5- The night sky. The moon & the stars - Observations of what changes occur in the sky. - From farm to table-Different types of farms that contribute to our food.
Social & emotional learning	Week 4 and 5- Teamwork and collaborative play.

News and Reminders:

-Thursday 3rd November- Excursion!! Year 1's are heading to The Big Goose Farm! This is now available on Compass with a payment that is required by the 1st of November. If you have any questions, please ask your classroom teacher.

-Colour run! We are raising money for our school. There are lots of prizes to be won for money raised. An online profile needs to be made. If you need help with this, please let your classroom teacher know.
