Principal’s Message

Mrs Kath Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope everyone is well. It is quite extraordinary to find ourselves in another severe flooding situation. We look forward to having all students and teachers back at school as soon as it's safe to do so.

For students who are working from home this week, the K-2 and 3-6 learning resources were sent out on Monday morning via Compass. This included a Zoom schedule to meet with teachers online to check-in and go through content for the days lessons. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you to everyone who came to support our Small Schools Public Speaking competition last Wednesday. It was a great opportunity to welcome other small schools from our local area to our school. Many thanks to Miss Tahlia Morrissey for organising the event, the Boggabri Rotary Club for providing the BBQ for visitors and participants and to Mrs Kate Groves and Mrs Georgie Carrigan for donating their time and the coffee van to the event in support of our Yr 6 cafe fundraiser. The collective support received is greatly appreciated by our school community.

Socktober is an annual fundraiser for Catholic Missions and is held each October. During this time fundraisers are held at the school as part of our contribution to Catholic Missions. For this year we will participate in the following events and ask that students bring in a gold coin donation for each event. Please note the amendment to the dates:

Thursday 27 October - crazy sock and hair day  (gold coin donation)

Year 2 students will be participating in the sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday 30 November. The schedule for the preparation of this sacrament is as follows:

Thursday 3 November - Parent meeting 3pm at the school.

Saturday 5 November - Rite of enrolment 4pm Sacred Heart Church.

Wednesday 30 November First Reconciliation 12 md, Sacred Heart Church.

Our Kindergarten transition will conclude on Thursday 10 November (Week 5). On this day we will have a special assembly for our transition students at 2:30 pm.

Advertising for our 2024 transition program will commence this term. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program next year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms for next years transition program will be available later in the term.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten for 2023 or any other year group, please encourage them to contact me at school.

The Term 4 parent calendar has been attached to this week's newsletter. If there are any changes we will notify you as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Miss Tahlia Morrissey who commences her career as a teacher here at Sacred Heart School this term. We wish her every happiness in her vocation.

Happy birthday to Samuel Broadhead and Jaxon Clarke (Transition) who celebrated their birthday yesterday 25th October, Mrs Darley who celebrates on Thursday 27th October and Mrs Tailby for Sunday 30th October. We hope you all have a fabulous day.

Take care
