Rest and Refresh

What a term. What a year. Saying we have been through “a lot” would be both a cliché

and an understatement. Term three is usually a struggle to push through, for some of us it may have been more of a strain than others, but I think it’s safe to say we are all ready for a holiday break. We are all very ready for some rest and time to refresh before our last term of the year.

As we prepare for our holiday, I thought it would be appropriate to encourage refection on the value of resting and refreshing. It is no secret how important resting and refreshing is in building a positive culture. Rest helps our creativity, our clarity in thinking, our functionality, our balance of emotions, our widow of tolerance and so many other parts of our wellbeing.  Knowing how to rest and refresh is key to succeeding, sustaining, and prospering in life.

Body Kindness

Before you go to rest and refresh (which is really being kind to your mind) here is a reminder to also be kind to your body over the holiday break. As mentioned in last week's newsletter, this month (September) is body kindness month and it is a good excuse to start thinking through the importance of respecting, appreciating, accepting, and loving our bodies.

We are so lucky that we have access to good food and lovely places to stay active.  I encourage everyone to take advantage of our good food and the lovely sunny days I hope we get and do things that you know are good for your body over the holiday. However, treating our body well is just one part of body kindness, we also must think kindly of our bodies. So, no negative self-talk, no comparing and encourage yourself, just as you would encourage others to be body kind.
