End of Term

What a great last week of school with the Prep Fairytale Ball, Footy Roadshow, and the Sustainability Fair (See Amy Prior’s Assistant Principal Page for more).

To our families, thank you for partnering so wonderfully well with our team this term. Stay safe over the school holidays, as always, enjoy all that comes with the term break:  the fresh air, spring sunshine and of course, at least one PJ Day!

A reminder school finishes at 1:30pm tomorrow.

NAPLAN Results

Over the past fortnight, the school has been distributing individual NAPLAN results to our Year Three and Five students. This data, along with Victorian Curriculum Teacher Judgement Data is also used to identify the school’s successes and improvement areas. Both the individual and cohort achievement data reflected tremendous achievement – especially considering the past two years of education.

Regarding measures of the school’s performance, the staff, and specifically the School Improvement Team, measure our successes against the school’s targets per the Annual Implementation Plan and the results of the State, Similar (socio-economic profile) and Network (geographically close) schools. The data reflected our school:

  • Met, or near to met, seven of our ten aspirational targets as identified in the AIP
  • Improved our Average Student Scale Score in seven of the ten assessments, albeit, two of the three assessments that didn’t show improvement in Average Scale Score are significantly higher performers in the Department’s highly valued measure of Top Two Bands:
    • Year 3 Spelling – 7% higher than Similar Schools, 6% higher than Network Schools
    • Year 5 Numeracy - 5% higher than Similar Schools, 9% higher than Network Schools
  • Exceeded the State averages of students in the Top Two Bands in all ten assessments.
  • Year Three Numeracy was the identified area of improvement. Whilst our data reflected low numbers of students achieving below the National Minimum Standard (which is great!) there were a disproportionately high number of students achieving in the Middle Two Bands – when compared to pre-COVID achievement data. Given that, the improvement challenge for our school is to ‘shift’ students in our Middle Two Bands into the Top Two Bands.
