Library News

It’s an exciting time for the library as new books are arriving almost daily. With the new Kildare Campus library opening early next year, Mrs Chisholm and Library staff have been busy selecting and ordering books of particular interest to our 2023 Year 7s.

There will be a push during the coming holidays to catalogue and cover the books so they are ready to grace the shelves of Kildare Library when the fit-out of the space is completed.

Did you know that students are welcome to suggest books and authors they would like the Library to purchase? A number of books have arrived recently as a result of student requests. The happy faces when we hand over the beautiful new titles for loan bring joy to Library folk; that’s what we’re here for, a shared passion for reading!

*We always add the disclaimer that if a requested book doesn’t fit with the Library collection policy we won’t necessarily buy it, but we do follow up with suggestions of where it might be stocked, eg public libraries, so that the student can obtain a copy through other channels.

Term 3 has been busy for everyone and the coming holidays are a chance to recharge. For our Year 12s undertaking VCE exams, it is a time to consolidate their knowledge as they push towards the final few weeks of their secondary schooling. We wish them well as they study.

For those going away, safe travels: and for those who are staying closer to home, enjoy your chance to relax and do the things that interest you.

Whatever you’re doing, take along a good book as a companion and boredom-beater! Come visit the library and leave with up to 6 books to keep yourself amused for the next two weeks.

Library jokes of the week:

Why don’t good readers have any time?
They are always fully booked.

What’s the longest word in the dictionary?
Smiles, because there’s a mile between each ‘S’.
