If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.

TRIVIA NIGHT

CONNECTED SCHOOLS

Unfortunately, it’s always the right time for a chat about friendship fires…

Teach kids to step away from drama, especially at school.

Adolescents are experimenting with who they are and what their social place in the world will be. So, they have a natural attraction to the social interactions of peers. They are especially attracted to drama. They are learning about power and social dynamics so of course they want to be part of what’s going on. They tend to pick a side; there is a powerful sense of belonging in picking a side.

We need to teach them the equal power of not getting involved. The power of the person who:

-Walks away

-Decides not to send that text

-Doesn’t comment on Social Media

-Counts to 5 before responding

-Distracts others from a moment of meanness -Chooses to turn on their empathy -Includes instead of excludes

If kids could see that power. And if they could show the courage to step away...just imagine.

OSHCLUB NEWS

Dear Parents and Guardians,

School Holiday Fun!

The Spring Holidays were filled with loads of fun and great experiences at OSHClub. With the Clay Modeling and Kaboom Kids Sports incursions being great hits. The children really enjoyed the hands on experiences provided by both of these incursions, providing us with great feedback of the type of incursions to provide in the future. Although we needed to make the move to the library for the second week of the holidays, we were still able to run ‘The Battle of the Cookies’ where children baked, designed and decorated their own cookie to create the best possible cookie they could. The children loved being able to decorate their cookies with all types of toppings and icing, creating pictures, structures and some just created a monstrosity of deliciousness! Keep an eye out for our Summer Holiday Program schedule, to come out later in the term to find out what awesome things we’re doing then!

Term 4 Means Hats!

Just a friendly reminder that in line with Greenhills Primary School and SunSmart, all children are to be wearing hats when playing outside at OSHClub. We have some spare hats in service, but we do not have enough for all children so we highly recommend all children bring an extra hat in their bag that they can wear while at OSHClub. This does not need to be a Greenhills Primary School hat, any hat will do!

Spooky Pupil Free Day!

On Monday the 31st of October OSHClub will be running a Pupil Free Day. As it is Halloween, we encourage all children attending to dress up and participate in all of the spooky activities planned, such as making chocolate spiders, making slimey brains and much more! If your children would be interested in the fun we will be having this Halloween at OSHClub please book via the iParent Portal or by contacting us on 0437 928 183 or greenhills@oshclub.com.au.
