Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...
The Prep Team would like to thank the students and parents for their continued efforts and support this year. We are heading into 2023 with some fond memories of 2022.
We are excited to see the Prep students step towards the new adventure of Grade 1 in 2023, however their smiles, laughter and brilliant personalities will be missed on Level 5! Please see some of the highlights from across the year below.
Grade 1 has been full of learning and fun. The students finished up our unit on fairytales by creating their very own creative story. They developed their own characters, settings and plot and presented these to the class. We are so impressed with their imaginations and creativeness.
We also wanted to say a big thank you to all of our wonderful parents who have helped on excursions and with testing. We could not have done it without you!
The Grade 2's had a fun week with a mix of activities. In Science, we explored the absorbency of materials by having a race. We dipped different materials into a bucket of water, raced back to our own bucket and squeezed out any water. We discussed which materials were absorbent. In Humanities we learned about Stephen Hawking and did a black hole experiment. We played 'Race to 100' in Maths to practise our regrouping skills and made wooden frames with a Craftpower in-visit.
What an amazing and jam-packed year it has been in Grade 3! The Grade 3 team, including Ciona, Steph, Angus and Megan, along with our Inclusion Aides Bhavana, Kriti, Taniya and Sam would like to thank all of our students and their families for such a successful year. From helping us out with excursions and Camp, to supporting your children in completing their homework each week, we couldn’t have done it without you!
We are so grateful for the Grade 3 community here at SMPS. We wish all students and their families all the best in 2023.
What a fantastic year it has been for our Grade 4 students! Yasmin, Angus, Daniella and Orlaith would like to take this opportunity to thank the families of the Grade 4 students. As a teaching team, we felt supported, appreciated and valued throughout 2022. Parent-teacher partnerships are a very important key to ensuring students are set up for a successful education.
We are so proud to have worked with such kind, caring and compassionate children. We will miss them all very much. We wish them every success in their futures. Congratulations, Grade 4 kids!
The Grade 5/6 students this week have continued to show their dedication to Big 10 Number 1, ‘Follow teacher directions all the way, right away’. This has played a big part in the outside activities over the last few weeks.
Over the past few weeks, students have been learning to swim. They have learnt water safety skills, water safety, and survival. This maximises their safety and attitudes towards water ensuring confidence and the ability to enjoy aquatic environments.
The Grade 6’s had their final trip as a year group to Gravity Zone. They were able to play with their friends and make memories for life. They played dodge ball which involved two teams who try to eliminate each other by throwing soft balls at each other while avoiding being hit themselves. They even got to learn new jumping tricks in a 2-metre deep foam pit! It was all about ‘reaching new heights’ - excuse the pun!
As the term comes to a close, the Grade 6 students are ending on a high. They are still showing great friendship and leadership and while the Grade 5 students are looking forward to being the new leaders of the school.
Year 6 students, it seems like only yesterday that you first joined us in Year 6. We are so proud you of and the way you have risen to the challenges thrown at you throughout the year. We have been blown away by your strength of character during the year. You have proven to us, and yourselves, that you are ready to move on to your secondary schools and we hope that you all continue to flourish there.
The finish line is near!
