Wushka

Whilst we are unable to loan books from our class library, students should be accessing Wushka to practise their reading at home at least four times a week. Wushka offers a range of books which will help students to practise and apply both their high frequency word and phonics knowledge.

Teachers are monitoring student access to Wushka on a weekly basis. We have one superstar who is averaging 20 books a week! Keep up the great work!

You can access Wushka on https://wushka.com.au/login/ with the login sent by your child’s class teacher. Please get in touch if you have any issues.

School uniform

As the year comes to a close we know how much our Prep students have grown! The Prep team is seeking any unwanted or outgrown school uniform for 2023 to support with any accidents that may occur. If you can support with any donations, please place them in your child's school bag. Any extra donations will be passed onto the school's second hand uniform shop.

Home Reading and Diaries:

A friendly reminder that students should be bringing in their readers to swap on a Monday and Thursday and to please send in your child's reading diary weekly for their classroom teacher to sight.

Attendance:

Daily school attendance is important for all children to succeed in education to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally.

If a student has an attendance of below 90% for the whole year, this means that they would miss over 4 weeks of their education and nearly 100 learning sessions.

Please ensure any reasons for non – attendance e.g. medical, illness, holiday, parent choice are updated to Compass. Any extended absences need to be discussed with classroom teachers so that a holiday learning plan can be put in place to ensure continuity of learning.

Belongings Coming Home: During Week 11, your children will begin bringing home their belongings (school books, etc.). To support this process, please send along an additional bag so that your children are able to carry home their belongings. A reusable grocery bag will work perfectly.

Devices

Please ensure you are sending your child to school each day with 100% battery. We use our iPads everyday for learning and uncharged iPads have a significant impact on students' learning.

Grade 6 Uniform:

As mentioned on the School Leader page, we would really appreciate if you would be able to give your child's uniform to the school. These are used in sickbay when accidents occur or are donated to the Second Hand Uniform Shop. We currently have very few items in upper-school sizes. We accept all items of the school uniform, including:

  • Summer uniform - dresses, shorts, shirts
  • Winter uniform - tunics, long-sleeved shirts, pants
  • Sports uniform - polo top, trackpants, shorts
  • Jackets - bomber jacket, coats
  • Hats - school hat, beanie
  • Shoes - black and polishable
  • Schoolbag

If your child is donating their entire school uniform, we ask that they do this on the last day of term. They can wear appropriate casual clothes for the last day - only if they are donating their uniform and have no uniform left to wear. If donating individual pieces, this can be done at any time during the week. Please send them in a bag to the office. We thank you for your help.
