End of Year Concert
Oh, what a night! GPS was blessed with clear skies for the biennial End of Year Concert held on the oval on Tuesday of week 9. It was great to see so many families come along to enjoy the performances the students had rehearsed.
The theme for the night was the 70's. The GPS Glamour Pom team opened the concert with a high-energy performance which proved that they are Unstoppable. Ms Tarn and Mrs Nappa's classes followed with their performance to Aint no Mountain High Enough. Mrs Richardson and Miss Tegan's classes rocked, surfed and danced through a classic 70’s medley before the year 3 students from 309 and 310 put on their dancing shoes and rocked the stage with an Abba medley. Ms McClintock, Ms Deluca, and Mrs Warner classes spelled their way through their item to ABC by Michael Jackson and YMCA from the Village People.
The audience couldn't resist the invitation from Ms Antoun to join the Governing Council for a Chicken Dance before some of our youngest students from 1301 and 1302 took to the stage to shake their tail feathers for us. 401 and 402 showed that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s what you do with your dancin’ shoes with their fabulous rendition of Grease, and the year 5 students Blamed it on the Boogie. 1305 and 1306 performed to Crazy Little Thing Called Love and students from 306 and 307 soothed our souls with their performance to Old Time Rock and Roll.
For their last whole school performance, the Year 6 students put on The Greatest Show followed by the perfect send-off for Mrs Raeside, Firework. It was fantastic to see the whole GPS community farewell, Mrs Raeside, with a performance fitting the fabulous educator that Mrs Raeside is! Finally, GPS staff proved that they have survived with a fabulous performance that inspired many of the students to dance along!
