Mathematics Improvement Project

Stage 1 are busy learning about Area - the space occupied by a flat shape or the surface of an object.  They are using a variety of objects to cover a surface and then exploring how to record their findings using drawings. Mathematical language such as area, surface, measure, row, column, gap, overlap and estimate help the children explain their thinking.
