School Advisory Council

School Advisory Council - Summary June 7th

Following the acknowledgement of country and prayer, Manuela delivered the Principal’s report. This included:

  • The challenges of staffing and sickness this term. Manuela thanked the community and staff for their positive attitude and the support everyone had shown each other.
  • Average of 20-25 students absent per day
  • Art Show a tremendous display of the Visual Arts Program and a great attendance and community engagement event
  • NAPLAN- Thank you to Vira and Olivia for the administration of this with the technical support
  • Great to see that excursions and incursions are back. Students have engaged in camps, Zoo, and CERES this term
  • School Tours – had many families through for tours. We have 40 students enrolled so far for 2023. 17 existing families and 23 new families which is a huge increase and Manuela is very pleased
  • Learning & Teaching –Waterfall Chart. Evidence of consistency with Learning intention and success criteria
  • Facilitated planning with Colleen, Vira and Annette to ensure consistency and common language
  • Building Project – Almost completed all faults. Phones upgrade and installation cost school approx. $11,000 as this was not included in the building project costs
  •  Challenges – Staffing, admin staff (ICON), 3rd business manager in 6 months and seeking enough  parent engagement and responses for our Vision and Mission statements

Item 3.2 The Resilience Project Data

  • Online presentation to parents didn’t run as smoothly as we wanted, with some technical difficulties
  • A request for a re-run with an onsite session will be organised for interested parents.
  • Very important to get parents' feedback
  • Listening to the students speak about the project and what they are grateful for. They are learning to be kind, and show gratitude and empathy. Also, learning about their own character strengths.
  • Each grade has a different journal and they learn about different things.
  • Seeing the strategies being used in real-life scenarios is a great way to have a better understanding of the questions? Hopefully, we see some change.
  • Putting things in place to ensure students are feeling supported (using tools and strategies)
  • 64% of students ready to learn
  • A lot of footballers and teams have implemented the project and have seen a positive outcome

Item 3.3 Waterfall Framework

  • Vira spoke about the Professional learning with Sue Walsh and the impact we want to see across the school with the consistent approach and the use of “The Waterfall Assessment Framework “
  • Learning walks have begun with the leadership team in the learning spaces and time for reflection and discussion to ask students the 5 questions

  • Too many pieces of uniform, try to reduce the number of pieces
