Week 9 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's hard to believe that this is the last week of Term Two (halfway through the year ). In today's newsletter I would like to acknowledge the many achievements and learning opportunities that we have experienced in Term 2 amidst all the COVID,  FLU, staff shortages that have challenged us during this term. It's any wonder we are all tired! However, how lucky are our students that they are in a vibrant learning community where they have lots of opportunities for learning, praying, celebrating and sharing.

New School Vision and Mission Statement Update

Last Tuesday we had a Pupil Free Day to recreate the St Fidelis School's Vision, Mission and Core values. This is a recommendation that came out of our 2020 school review. The last time the school had reviewed its Vision, Mission and Core values was back in 2010. The  day was facilitated by Pauline Zappulla, an educational consultant and Sr Rosemary from Order of the Sisters of Mercy.

The day began by immersing ourselves with the voices of the past and the present, so that we can plan for the future.

Firstly, we listened to Sr Rosemary Paterson, a nun for the Order of Mercy. Sr Rosemary spoke to us about our Catholic Identity of the past and the Charism and key values of the Mercy Order on which St Fidelis Parish and school were founded.

We were then immersed in the voices of the children.  All three year levels put together a digital presentation of the kids' aspirations and their understanding of the Catholic Identity of their school.

We were then able to view parent data collected from a recent survey and parent voices from the school board members.

The staff then listened to a  presentation from me about my aspirations for St Fidelis in the future and what we aspire to do for our school and Parish community.

After a morning of listening and noting keywords, values and beliefs from all stakeholders we were taken through a process to draft our new Vision, Mission and Core values.

It was an extremely busy and productive day and we are all pleased with the outcome. Currently, the  Vision, Mission and Core Values Statements are in draft form and we will launch them to the community in Term Three.
