Grade 5/6
Congratulations to our Football and Netball Teams
Well done to our Football and Netball Teams.
Yesterday we headed to Serpell to play in our Grand Finals.
The Footy team started well against Serpell and were challenged in the second quarter, before we kicked a few quick goals to then win 77 to 27. Fantastic work ACPS. Each and every week you showed great sportsmanship, encouragement to each other and pushed through adversity over the last couple of weeks. What a great team!
The Netballers had a challenging game in which saw them slightly up early on against a skillful opponent. Our girls showed their passion, drive and skills and challenged Templestowe Park the whole game. The scores were 22 to 24 with our girls just missing out on the premiership. They are a super team who are competitive, support each other and enjoy taking on these opportunities. Fantastic work ACPS!
Girl's Footy Day
On Tuesday a group of ACPS girls headed to Zerbes Reserve to play a round robin of football games. This day is amazing, it brings girls together and promotes women in sport. The girls had so much fun developing their skills and giving it a go. The girls won one game and lost two. They also rotated in and played a couple of games with our friends at Warrandyte Primary School. It is great to see these opportunities for our students and the way they represent our school is something to admire.
Literacy
This term we have been reading our class novel 'Escape From Mr Lemoncello's Library'. This has taken us on an adventure and the students have been able to make connections between the text themselves, other texts and the world. It has challenged us with puzzles, cryptic messages and explored a range of novel's that we hope to read. Try and solve these rebus puzzles as a family:
Numeracy
We have been working hard all term on all four operations. The students have gained a lot of knowledge on each of the operations, mental strategies to solve problems and the confidence to use these methods heading into our units on fractions and decimals.
Try this: You have a three digit number multiplied by a two digit number and the answer needs to equal less than 10,000. BUT...your three digit number and two digit number can only use the numbers 1-9 (not used more than once). For example: 475 x 23 = Oops I have gone over 10,000 = 10,925 - Let's try again!
