James
James wrote a lovely piece about his school this week. It's great to see all Foundies writing without the fear of making mistakes. Their knowledge of sight words and spelling is also coming along nicely!
Harper and Jack
These students worked hard at making a two-digit number using a variety of materials this week. We used many items to represent ones and tens which helped consolidate this concept. We even completed a lesson using sultanas as a resource which we are still finding around the classroom…
Wow! What writing superstars Foundation B have been for the first week back of term! On Monday we wrote about what exciting things we got up to over the holidays. Yuvan wrote about going to the snow mountains for his cousins birthday! On Tuesday we read the book “If I had a Dinosaur” Students wrote what they would do if they owned a pet Dino! Kenzie named her dinosaur ‘Precious’ and she would take Kenzie to school and play with her!
In Maths we have been working hard on our new topic - Place Value! We have been making numbers with our ‘houses’ using the tens house and ones house. The number 1 rule is that there can only be one number (digit) in each house! Have a look at Remy who made the number 16 with 1 group of ten and 6 ones! Josh made the number 23 with 2 groups of ten and 3 ones! What clever cookies we are in Foundation B!
We have jumped right back into engaging and hands on literacy activities this week after the holiday break. I am thrilled to see our youngest learners have continued to progress and gain in confidence over the past few weeks.
Hamish J from Foundation C loved our M100 word activity where he had to read, make and write some of his orange words. Well done Hamish!
Titan M from Foundation C did a super job of reading some CVC words and finding the pictures that match. Keep up the fantastic effort Titan!
