Leadership @ MPS

CONGRATULATIONS to:

The bride to be!  We wish the wonderful Miss Lee and husband-to-be, Alan, all the very best for a beautiful wedding day, this Sunday.  We are thrilled for you both - enjoy a restful and safe honeymoon up north - we are very envious!

All the best to Rebekah Rentos! Bek has commenced a new role that incorporates the coaching of teachers and leaders for the duration of the term, located in the DET head office in Greensborough.

Congratulations to Mrs Lucinda Thom who will move from her current position of Leading Teacher here at Monty to take on the position of Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of the term.  Lucinda has a wealth of leadership knowledge and experience and I look forward to working with her in this role over the coming weeks.

New Building Update:

We are getting closer! Currently the architect and cost plans are at tender stage, yet I believe that I will be informed shortly as to which building company has secured the contract. From that point onwards, I am assured that things will move quite quickly, with a start date at the beginning of Term 4.

So what does this mean for us right now?  We have already started the "packing up" and decanting process. There is a huge amount to be done in reorganising the Castle and kitchen, in particular relocating Before/After school care to our current hall. Please put in your diary Saturday 27th August - we will need all hands on deck to relocate many of our plants, furniture and all things that we are storing whilst the build takes place. We will also be putting a call out to parents and carers for some extra help during the days that Dave Joseph (our new SAKG staff member) is here as we endeavour to relocate as much of the current Stephanie Alexander garden as is feasible.

A recap of what the new build will incorporate:

Multipurpose Hall

Art Room

SAKG Kitchen/STEM Space

Performing Arts/Music Room

2 Instrumental Music Rooms

Teacher workspace

Kitchenette

Storerooms

Toilets

Outdoor amphitheater

Outdoor learning spaces

Stephanie Alexander garden

Camp Australia - Tender Process

Our contract with Camp Australia expires at the end of the year. This means that School Council must oversee a tender process. Over the next few weeks, we will invite OSHC companies to submit an Expression of Interest. From there, School Council will make a decision and a contract for the next 3 years will be offered. Thank you to the many families that filled out the survey about after/before school care which provided some really valuable insight to the wonderful program that occurs daily. I thank Eta for being such a terrific operator - and I am assured that no matter what happens with the renewal of the contract, that as long as Eta is a part of it, all will be ok!  Thank you to the wonderful team of carers who work with Eta as well.

Superstar State Cross Country Representatives

Congratulations to Seb and Tess for their outstanding achievement in competing at a State level for Cross Country. Cross Country, in particular is highly competitive and also incredibly challenging! Watching such talented students race at this level is a privilege! I am so proud of the determination that Seb and Tess showed - they both have a very promising sporting career ahead of them!

Superstar Staff Member!

A huge shout out and thanks to Mr K! Not only does Mr K get the blower going to tidy the yard EVERY morning, (even in minus 2 degrees), but he also is a "Mr Fix-it!" In recent days, the deck outside one of the 3/4 portables has become super slippery - until Mr K saved the day.

All of our teachers really do go above and beyond - we are very grateful!

Important Dates - Please place in your diary!

Monday 15th August - Curriculum Day - Student-Free  (CAMP AUST available)

Wed 7th September - Student-Free Day for Parent/Teacher Interviews. Parents/carers will be be able to book a time with their child's class teacher throughout the day.

CAMP AUST available.

Take care everyone,

Janene
