AIC Cross Country

As we enter this initial phase of schooling through the first half of Term 2 we remain uncertain about the future of the Cross-Country season, the structure it will take and when exactly the season may take place.

However, as we hold out hope for a quick return to normal sometime this term to regular squad training, and participating in the AIC Championships later in the year, it is important for us to continue with our preparation.

As such, our aim is to be as ready as possible so that we can get the ‘jump’ on other Colleges, and attack the season to the best of our significant ability. In order to do this, we need to make sure that we establish a strong physical base and fitness levels. Head Coach Mr Connor O’Leary has developed a progressive training program (the first two weeks will be emailed to all parents) for all runners to complete over the coming weeks so that we can ‘hit the ground running’ upon return to training.

This program is flexible for athletes of all levels and not only beneficial to Cross Country but also to building up your bodies for the fitness demands of all sports that will continue throughout the remainder of the year. Further to this, as many of you would be aware by now, it is extremely important to remain active for your mental health and wellbeing during these times.

If you have any questions, issues or didn’t receive the two-week program, please feel free to contact me.
