Junior School Learning

Grades 1 and 2

The grade one/two students have been working with their grade three/four buddies on the computers. The 3/4 students have been teaching their younger buddies how to sign in and use Google Drive. They have been teaching them how to create a document on Google Docs and different skills on the computer such as changing font size/colour and inserting pictures. Both the 3/4 students and their 1/2 buddies have really enjoyed the experience and the 1/2 students are grateful for learning new skills from their own individual teacher.

Grades Prep F and P1L

It has been a busy couple of weeks in Prep Fletcher and Prep/1 Lindsay.

In reading students have been learning to evaluate texts they are reading. They have been encouraged to discuss things they liked about the book, identify anything they didn’t like and to consider an audience the book would be good for.

In writing, students have been exploring informative texts. They have been writing information reports about birds, planets and various other chosen topics.

In maths, we have introduced students to the concept of sharing (division). Mrs Fletcher and Mr Lindsay have been very impressed with their student’s ability to share a large collection between groups. Students can even say if it has been a fair share or not.
