Grade 6 Graduation

Tuesday 17th December, Teesdale Hall

Students and staff have been discussing the upcoming graduation and are looking forward to sharing this evening with you.

This year we are holding all of the formal presentations and speeches at the beginning of the evening and then providing a canapé style food service, catered by Fed By Jed. This allows everyone the chance to mingle and socialise, talking to your child, their friends, peers and families and also staff and generally celebrating their success in graduating primary school.

Formal invites will be sent home shortly.

Year 3/4 Inquiry - South America and Africa

South America has the biggest rain forest in the world. South Americans' have carnivals each year that take place in February. Soccer/ football is the most popular sport in South America. Children and adults in every South American country play soccer. There was a village of people who built their own island on a lake. I like South America because it has lots of interesting animals and plants. -Pete

South America have a plant called hot lips I like it because it looks like real lips. There are lots of different species of deer in South America. My favourite is the white tailed deer because I like the colours and features. In South America soccer has two names; futbol and futebol. I find it interesting that South America has the lake that holds the most water but it isn’t the longest.- Cohen

South Americans have a wide variety of different foods in their diet. Some of the ones I have found to be the most interesting are cooked bananas and blue cheese. In South America they have a plant called hot lips I think this is really cool. They have to eat with their hands because they don’t have access to cutlery like we are lucky enough to have. They have some really cool animals and I like the jaguars and sloths. I find the clothing that they wear to be really fascinating. -Sheena

South American culture includes the creation of art music and dances. They have a massive carnival every February, the carnival includes noisy street parades, colourful costumes, music, food, singing, and dancing. South America has 12 different countries in it. They have the longest river in the world and it is called the amazon river. I like how they have the largest river in the world I found this to be a really interesting fact. - Hannah

Cailin:

“In Africa some countries eat with their right hand and no utensils. They hunt and forage for food. My favourite African animal we have learn about is the bongo”.

Mason:

“Africa is a continent with many countries such as: Morocco, Zimbabwe and Madagascar. Africa has different climates”.

Ethan:

“Africa has the second biggest rain forest called the Congo. It has the longest river which is called the Nile. There are a lot of poor countries in Africa”.

Jessica:

“Africa has a range of interesting animals like: bongos, aardvarks and coatimundis. There is a range of different climates. Africa has a lot of strange myths and legends.

Year 5/6 Inquiry - Continents

'The 5/6's are learning about the continents of the world. We are researching and exploring North America, Europe and Asia in particular and are currently working on a project. The project is all about a country in the world and students have to include all the relevant information about the country. Students will be presenting this information to peers and also at the Learning Expo later in the term. They have found out lots of information already!'

Year 5/6 End of Year Celebration

To celebrate the end of a fantastic year of learning students are being invited to a celebration day. We will be going to Supaworld, Grovedale, for some fun and games followed by lunch at Queen’s Park, Newtown. Students will have time at various activities, building on their social qualities as well as friendship, resilience and respect. We hope that all students are able to attend and enjoy this experience with us.

The cost of the excursion is $30, which includes entry to Supaworld and a pair of socks for use there and transport costs.

Please return the attached envelope with cash payment or EFTPOS at the school office by Friday 6th December. To pay by BPay, an invoice has been provided with your unique biller details. Please remember to return the signed permission envelope and record the payment details for reconciliation.
