Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

Garden Report

The garden has been producing plenty for the kitchen as well as several market stalls lately.  Keep an eye out if you would like to buy lovely fresh vegetables, grown by the students.

We spent last week planting out seedlings, turning the compost, harvesting produce for the stall and shelling broadbeans for freezing.

The grade 1/2’s had fun making seed packets which we filled with lettuce seed, so they can try growing at home.

With the continuing rain, the garden is still looking beautiful so if you feel like a wander around, please pop down.

Happy Gardening.

Kitchen Report

This week we are off to Peru and then we travel to Brazil  as we start our food exploration of South America.

It will be interesting to see how vastly different the food is from what we sampled as we travelled across Africa.

A lot of American/ Western style foods have infiltrated the taste pallets of many countries within South America.

Spanish influences are also apparent in the types of food throughout this region. The food from one country to another on this continent does not vary nearly as much as it did across Africa.
