Living with Strength and Kindliness

Sabbatical Week

This week is Staff Sabbatical Week at St Joseph's College.

Sabbatical Week is all about celebrating our spirituality and deepening our understanding of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching so our community can deepen their understanding of our Living Justice, Living Peace Guidelines.

Throughout the week we are hosting a number of professional development experiences for staff from sustainability projects to liturgical music, Christian meditation, Ignatian spirituality regarding discernment, and a recount by a staff members of their spiritual journey on the Kokoda Trek.

Staff are asked to attend at least one PD session for the week but are invited to attend as many as they like.

The highlight of the week is our Staff Spirituality Day, scheduled for Friday 12th November. This day is a pupil free day for students while staff will have the opportunity to learn from Dr Anna Rowlands, St Hilda Professor of Catholic Social Thought and Practice, Lecturer in Contemporary Catholic Theology and Deputy Director of the Centre for Catholic Studies at Durham University in the UK.

Staff Sabbatical Week is an important opportunity for our staff to step back and reflect what it means to be part of a Catholic community and the important role we play as leaders within our community.
