Tee ball dreams

During weeks 9 and 10, Years 3-6 students have been lucky enough to participate in a Physical Education clinic focusing on Tee Ball!  We welcomed back incursions to our school with two instructors from Kelly Sports (Greater Ballarat Region), Coach Tex and Coach Joe.  All students worked on perfecting their basic throwing and catching skills as well as mixing it up with some amazing two handed striking during games centred around tee ball and the skills we need to play it successfully.  Katherine and I were blown away when children stepped up to bat with powerful hits and home runs being delivered by almost everyone.  What an epic way to finish what has been an exciting year in Physical Education at Miners Rest Primary School.  We cannot wait to kick off 2022 continuing to make the most of our beautiful new facilities!  Thank you to all those students, teachers and parents who have supported our program and efforts to deliver informative and enjoyable content on site and in a remote capacity.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays folks!

Golf Clinics

Many thanks to Tony Collier who is running a two week Golf Clinic for our Year Five and Six Students. It is so wonderful to have Tony back in our school working with our senior students and staff. This is such a valuable experience for all involved and we look forward to continuing this program for many years to come.

The day ‘Caesar’ came to visit

Last Wednesday the 1st of December we had an extra special celebrity grace us with his presence.  Our very clever Foundation, Year One and Two students won a Western Bulldogs colouring competition which entitled our junior school students to a visit from Caesar the ‘real-life’ Western Bulldogs mascot.  What a grand little man he was and it was evident he loves the attention he gets from children when he visits schools for special occasions like this!  Along with Caesar, we were also lucky enough to have two Western Bulldogs coaches, Maggie and Jordy, join us to run five Australian Rules Football lessons.  Students participating in these classes had so much fun showing off their handball and kicking skills to the girls.  Next year, we hope to continue to work closely with the Western Bulldogs and provide our students with a more extensive and longer AFL program in the Winter months.

JUMP OFF DAY

On Friday, students in Years 3-6 are asked to wear a touch of Red in recognition of the Heart Foundation. F-2 students will come to school in school uniform as they are representing the school at their movie day. The House Captains will be organising a 'Jump Off' hour from 2:30 on Friday afternoon where all students in the school will be jumping on the oval to music to celebrate the amazing fundraising achievement made by Miners Rest students. The total money raised was $2414. Thank you to everyone who donated money to this very important cause.

GAME DAY

HEY!  Year 6!

Are you ready for this?

Just when you thought your primary school days were all done and dusted.  You had survived the ‘tough stuff’ and you were on the move to bigger and better things.

We have one final challenge for you all!

We can’t simply let you walk out the front gate without truly finding out what you’re made of.

SO…..get out your fastest sneakers, practise your best DODGE, DUCK, DIP and DIVE moves and make your way to the gymnasium on Wednesday the 15th of December at 1:40pm for the ULTIMATE DODGEBALL BATTLE against your teachers,

THE DUNDAS STREET DODGERS!

‘If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball…’

See you at the court!
