OSHClub

What we’ve been up to…
We've had so much fun over the past two weeks as we’ve continued engaging with our after-school clubs! Our goal of focus centred around developing a sense of identity, agency, autonomy in OSHC. Check out what we've been up to below!
Yarning Circle
Recently, we started our OSHC yarning circle. Here, we provide a space for children to discuss their interests, concerns and positive news stories, championing each child’s sense of identity. Related to World Children’s Day, over the past fortnight we’ve been exploring agency- the contributing decisions children make within our program. It has been fantastic to see the children so engaged with yarning circle, brainstorming a range of ways they feel their voice can be heard at OSHC. We can’t wait to see how yarning circle progresses!
Mini MasterChef’s Club
The children have been cooking up a storm in the OSHC kitchens as we’ve made some delicious Tomato and Basil pasta sauce. Suggested by Lidia, the children had a wonderful time developing their sensory capacities as we ventured into the garden to collect fresh basil and experimented with the texture of the sauce. Check out the recipe here. Next week we can’t wait to make some delicious Gnocchi!
“I liked when we put in the basil”- Lidia, Prep.
Habitat Heroes Club
Continuing to develop their awareness of how the environment changes and how to care for it, students have found great joy in watching our seedlings grow. We loved exploring our natural environment in the Tilley Heritage Gardens and sketching plant patterns we’d discovered!
“I learnt about the shapes of plants and how to sketch them”- Iris, Grade Two.
Ninja Warriors Club
Continuing to build upon our martial arts skills, the children have had the best time building and testing their very own obstacle courses. The children had a blast as they battled it out in an ultimate nerf gun challenge, successfully negotiating social roles for self-regulation.
“I love ninja warriors club!”- Gwen, Prep.
Busy Bees Crafting Corner
We’ve had some wild and wet weather recently. The children have had some amazing experiences indoors as they’ve been busy in the craft corner developing Hama bead creations and beading some wonderful gifts for friends and family.
Happy Birthday Kaitlyn!
Last week we celebrated our educator Kaitlyn’s birthday. It was beautiful to watch the children take on the initiative to make a card, gifts and a special ‘birthday cake’ for her! Happy Birthday Kaitlyn!
