Library News

Howdy all,

Last year the school was involved in the Djirra reverse advent calendar event, which provided non-perishable food items to Indigenous families who are in need over the Xmas period.

Djirra is an Aboriginal community controlled organisation established in 2002 to provide assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault and to work with families and communities affected by violence.

We're doing it again this year. We will begin this Friday, the 19th of Nov. Each grade will have a box and a list of food items to donate. This year we're going to work on a first-in, first-served basis. The list will be on the classroom door (or near it) and if you have supplied the needed item you tick it off the list.

If we get extras (we got A LOT last year) I will donate them as individual items but, for convenience sake, it's better to follow the list in your child's class. If you have more than one student at the school it's obviously fine to choose to donate to one of the classes. Have a look and see which class is more in need.

Last year we had a huge response. I hope this year is the same.

Any questions feel free to email me at library@carltonnthps.vic.edu.au

Thanking you all in advance,

Kim
