Congratulations

Athletics

Zara Nicholas (Year 7) and Amelie Hugo (Year 8), as members of the Blue Mountains Athletics Team, recently competed at the Athletics NSW Schools Nitro Event. Their team was very successful, coming second overall in the Junior Girls events.

The Athletics NSW Nitro Event is a schools' event that athletes enter via their Athletics Club. Second place was a fine achievement as the girls have come second to Pymble Ladies College, who have ex-Olympian coaches and a hand-picked team. Other schools competing were Meriden, Riverside Girls High School, Barker College and Westfield Sports HS.

As this is a team event, points are awarded for each event/placing that contribute to the overall points for each team. Amelie ran in the 2x800 relay, 800m individual and the 4x100. Zara competed in the long jump, 150m individual and the 4x100m relay.

The team was the best of the Mountains girls (all from different Little A’s clubs) who came together. Congratulations both to the girls from BMGS and those that made up the team from other local schools.

Summer Sport Teams

All summer sport trials are now completed. Team lists will be placed on the Sports noticeboard outside the Head of Sport office by Monday. Please check the lists carefully and if you feel there is an issue please raise this firstly with the relevant MIC.

All trainings will commence in Week 7. Please come prepared in BMGS gear. Training will run from 3:15pm until 4:45pm. Students are requested to wait for parent pickup after trials at the bus stop located outside the school gates.

Trial games are currently being organised. Please set aside the 20/11, 27/11 and 4/12 for possible games. Final times will be put on the screens around the school and on Team App by Monday.

If you are not a member of Team App please download the App onto your phone and request to join BMGS and the relevant team that you have been selected in.

Vaccinations

All students who are 16 years or over who have been selected in BMGS teams must come and see me at the Sports Centre office to be recorded as having received their double vaccinations to play trial games.

Touch Football

There will be a final trial for those who wish to play Touch Football on Tuesday at lunchtime. If the weather is fine this will be on the oval, however, if it is wet, we will be on Court 2 in the Sports Centre.

Uniforms

Please attend the Uniform Shop to be fitted for a uniform on either Monday or Tuesday in Week 7. If your uniform still fits from last season, please confirm the number that you will be wearing (if relevant) to your MIC.

Please watch the Newsletter for further updates.
