Principal's Report

Volunteers at School

Now that we have hit 80% of eligible Victorian's are fully vaccinated the rules around schools have again shifted. This will mean that we are able to have more 'normal' school-based activities taking place. This will mean that Canteen will once again be operational from next week, and we are looking at options for our Year 5/6 students who have missed out on camp again this year.

We are able to have volunteers on-site again working with students. As required by the Victorian Government all volunteers must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before they are able to volunteer in a school activity. As a school, we must sight your Vaccine certificate before we are able to have you onsite working with students or staff. When you arrive at the office to sign in, both on the Compass kiosk and the QR code, we must sight your certificate on your smartphone or hard copy. Once you have shown your certificate once we will be keeping a database (on our secure system) and you will not need to show it again (you will however need to check-in via the QR code for contact tracing purposes).

We will again be holding assemblies from tomorrow onwards. To manage our Covid requirements we are asking for families to only attend if their child is receiving an award or have something special happening for them at the assembly, and all visitors must check-in via a QR code before joining the assembly.

Classroom Focus

It has been wonderful to spend some time in classrooms over the past few days and feel the 'buzz' around the school with all students back on deck. Students have been settling in well and re-discovering their passions with a focus on Wellbeing, Literacy and Numeracy as key aspects of their program. I would like to again thank our amazing staff who have supported our students in their return to school over the past fortnight. Having part-time learning presented its own challenges, however, it is great to have everyone together (but separate) on site.

2022 Planning

We are well into planning for the 2022 school year. If you know that your child will not be at Marlborough next year (other than our Year 6 students) please let the office know as soon as possible.

Each year families are invited to submit a request for consideration for student placement for the following school year. These requests must be educationally based, families cannot make requests for specific friends or teachers. If you believe you have such a request I ask that you email me by November 5th. If you have made a request in the past and believe that the need is still current you are asked to make the request again. Please note that all requests are considered in our student placement process but are not always able to be granted.

Enrolments

If you have a younger sibling who will be attending Marlborough Primary next year their enrolment should be into school by now. Enrolment forms can be accessed on our website and emailed into marlborough.ps@education.vic.gov.au
