2022 iCAN Challenge

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I make a major announcement about one of the most significant school community events for 2022, The iCan Challenge!

Are you ready to walk 50km in one school day and raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital?!?

What is it?

  • The iCan challenge will be occurring in the last week of term 1, 2022
  • We will be walking 50 kms along the beach from Frankston to Middle Park in one school day!!!
  • Transport will be available to and from the event for those that need it
  • The event will be run like a professional fun run, with an iCan challenge event t-shirt, food and drink stations throughout the walk, a medallion when you cross the finish line and celebratory BBQ with families
  • The aim is to raise $100,000 for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal, have some fun and bring the community together
  • Participants will need to complete some training walks before the event
  • There will be prizes for individuals and teams who raise the most money
  • Parents can volunteer to walk and/or support the event

If this sounds like something that you would love to take part in then I encourage you to come to our launch evening on Wednesday 17th November, 6-7pm in the COLA (covered outdoor courts, next to the GYM).

Please register here if you are thinking of taking part in this MAJOR event

Why am I passionate about this event and the cause?

Like many of you reading this, the RCH was life changing for my daughter and our family. In 2014, Emily experienced her first minor and major seizures weeks before she started Prep. This led to a diagnosis of Epilepsy and Emily's life (and ours) changed from that point on. Countless seizures, different medicine regimes and life challenges ensued for the next four years. Epilepsy is a significant condition that not only directly effects the person, but these effects are felt by the whole family. In 2017, despite being told by a specialist that there was no alternative treatments and that seizures were likely for the rest of her life, we sought advice from a world leading Paediatric Neurologist based in Melbourne. She told us that a cure was possible!!!!!!! After many tests, it was confirmed that Emily was suitable for life changing surgery which was completed by a world renowned surgeon at the RCH in June 2018. She has been seizure free since! I can't sing the praises of the RCH enough and that's why I am passionate about using this opportunity to support the staff, children and families who make  such a difference!
