Finishing Strong!

The end of the year is always extremely busy for families and here at school, we’re no different! We’ve packed Term 4 with as much as we possibly could so that we can see out 2021 with a bang.  We are very close to finishing the year and I would like to remind parents that all students must attend school until the last day of term.  We will continue to offer stimulating classroom programs that will celebrate and motivate your child to continue to learn. There are a number of fantastic activities planned so please remind your child the value of completing goals and attending school.

Our Generous Community

Many thanks to our families who have donated gifts to our raffles and annual gift drive, uniform and preloved toys to help resource our playgroup. Thoughtfulness, gratitude and acts of kindness have been clearly evident as students and parents have made generous offers to support our community throughout the year.  Please know that children learn from the adults around them so in this process of acting compassionately, you do change life for yourself as well as others. The Xmas spirit is alive and strong in Woori Yallock.  On behalf of the Welfare team, thank you for making our work with your children so enjoyable.  We simply couldn’t do it without you.

Step Up Day

On Tuesday we had a terrific day running our 2022 classes.  The Step up Day is extremely important for students and teachers to get to know each other. This experience has established the climate for a safe, happy and positive classroom environment to flow over into Term 1. Parents at home, please continue to prepare your child, talk through worries and reassure your child that they will have an amazing time with their new grade next year.

Woori Gift Giving Tree Community Appeal

Thank you for your generous donations, my elves are being kept busy wrapping presents for members of our community going through a tough time. I really love the level of care people are going to when purchasing gifts. The community cheer is really helping us make a magic moment. If parents or friends would like to donate a gift, please drop by or contact the Welfare Team.

3 Way Conferences

It has been our pleasure getting to know not only your child, but you as well. Having parental support and open lines of communication is an essential part of any successful school year. Thank you for all you have done to make our year so fulfilling and memorable. On behalf of all staff, thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life.

Free Happy Families Membership 2022

The welfare team applied for a community grant through the Shire of Yarra Ranges and we are pleased to announce our Happy Families Membership is continuing. We have over 90 families/staff signed up and this resource was a fantastic go to during this year’s lockdowns.  The website has changed and parents need to sign up to the new platform. For existing members, just follow this process to reactivate your membership. We have had lots of positive comments that parents and carers are enjoying the website. If you haven’t got around to joining, it’s not too late. The Happy Families membership gives you access to a number of resources which will help families, staff and students to thrive.  Every member will receive a weekly "Lighten the Load" email, which includes a quick, easy to apply tip from Dr Justin, as well as some updates about other features in the membership.  There is a library of parenting resources which offers calm assurance, direction and solutions you can try out on your families.

We are super excited to hear the announcement that Bec Filliponi has recently launched her very first children's book. Bec is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker who works locally in the Shire of Yarra Ranges.

For families who may be experiencing stressful situations then this book might be a tool that can help you. This book talks about how stressful things happen and we can't always change them, but we can learn ways to help us feel less overwhelmed. It teaches children a number of regulation strategies. We are also creating a mini-book where children can write down all of their strategies they use on stressful days.

You can order through trybooking at
