Leadership @ MPS

The final newsletter of the year. How do I summarise? Where do I begin and end...?

COVID-19 has well and truly invited a flexibility of thinking and will certainly sit in history as a point of crisis. However, I do believe that as a collective, MPS has embraced the essenceof ‘modifying ideas when circumstances change’ as well as the realisation of what "togetherness" actually means and looks like. The finale to the year has seen the students of MPS embrace the opportunity to reconnect and to physically be together.

It has been a joyful end to the school year.

As I draw the last newsletter article to a close, I would like to thank everyone who has helped to shape the beautiful community that we are part of here at MPS.

To our Monty Staff - Thank you. Our staff are an incredibly hardworking and dedicated group of people who go above and beyond to provide a rich and supportive learning environment, both online and onsite. Our teachers are one of the major reasons that MPS is such a great learning community.

To our Parents and Carers - Thank you! You have supported us so well throughout 2021 and we are so appreciative of all that was managed on the home front this year. We look forward to welcoming parents and carers back onsite in 2022 and reconnecting with you all.

Finally, I would like to thank the people who make this place such a special place to work – the children. It is a privilege to see their smiling and friendly faces every day. We are so very fortunate to share in their lives, their triumphs, their trials, tribulations and their discoveries.

As we near the end of another uniquely challenging year, we sincerely wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas. We know how important the upcoming summer break is – for our families and for our staff. We do hope that everyone takes full advantage of the opportunity to reset, to reflect on a year that wasn’t quite what we had all hoped it would be, and to rest – your heart your mind and your body– before everything kicks off again in 2022.

Stay safe.

Year 5/6 Creative Writing Extension Workshop Anthology

In a year of yet again such uncertainty and upheaval, the power of words to create, inspire, record, and imagine has never been more important. The students of MPS have continued to demonstrate dedication to creative writing skills, both in class with their talented teachers, and for some, too, in an Extension Creative Writing program. These students made use of their literacy time to participate in a term of weekly workshops, both face to face and online during lockdown, where they learned more about the writing process, and how to create a memorable experience for the reader. What the students have created in this anthology is simply outstanding; they are tales that will break your heart, gasp in shock, chuckle and feel inspired at the vagaries of the human condition. Set in locations such as the heavily patrolled border of North Korea, and the inner world of a trapped goldfish, the collection represents the stellar teaching of MPS staff, and the quality of creativity that is flourishing at this marvellous school in Montmorency. Make a cuppa, sit back, and enjoy the extraordinary words these students have crafted into stories that will linger, long after you have read the words. Click here to access the Anthology

Well done to our Grade 6 Students!

We are very proud of you all. We are very fortunate that we were able to enjoy a wonderful evening with the Grade 6 students at Graduation last night. A stunning ceremony was held in the gardens overlooking the golf course, followed by a fancy dinner just for our graduating students! Most Grade 6 parents made the most of the evening and enjoyed a meal out together.  Great memories!
