Book Week 2023 - Read, Grow, Inspire
This year we are celebrating book week in the final week of term starting Monday 11th September.
There will be a book character dress up day on Thursday 14th September, with our annual best dressed parade in the library at lunch time.
Watch this space for more details to come about the competitions and events we are running that week, in the meantime start planning those costumes.
Graphic Novel Workshop
On 3rd of August, we had our second and final part of our graphic novel workshop with author Stef Gemmill. Students had the opportunity to work on what they started in the previous session or try a new way of presenting their story. We had some continue on, some used illustrator programs on their ipads to draw their characters and universes and some students were happy with paper and pencil.
We are extremely grateful to Stef for donating her time to the students and showing them a new creative way to tell their stories, from the drafting and preparing the ideas to getting them written and illustrated.
New Books
We have had new books arrive in the last fortnight. Come and check them out in our new book stand!
Book Highlight
Scar Town is a brand new thriller by Australian author Tristan Bancks.
Seven years after Old Scarborough was drowned, a house is emerging from the water. Will and his friends Dar and Juno dare each other to explore it.
But when they find the bones - and a stash of cash - they realise they’re not the only ones interested in it’s secrets.
Now they’re fighting for their lives against men who want what they found. Will can’t leave the mystery alone, though. What if the bones belong to his missing dad?
The Challenge will be ending on the 8th September, so there is still plenty of time to get those books read and listed.
We have 283 Surf Coast Secondary College students registered so far which is an amazing effort!
Happy Reading!

Break Schedule
We have implemented a year level schedule for the Library at recess and lunch breaks.
This allows for all year levels to access the space in a more efficient and structured way for borrowing and activities.
There are opportunities for a Library pass, if you are a Library monitor and help in this space.
