Year 9 News

We have had another busy start to the term. Students are settling back into classes and getting comfortable in a number of new elective classes. We are still seeing lots of green positive KPA’s acknowledging the great start students are making this term. 

LBU’s are coming out shortly and I’m looking forward to seeing some more great results across the year level. We also have a lot of exciting events happening again this term, this is including the year 9 camp to Melbourne.

Year 9 camp to Melbourne 

The Year 9 camp to Melbourne camp will be running from the 14th of August to the 18th of August. We have started having meetings with students about this and forms will be coming home with further information for those attending. We will still be running a program at school for the remaining year 9 students. This will link with the learning happening on camp as well as incorporating links to students' regular classes. 

Careers expo day

On Tuesday the 25th of July year 9 and year 10 students travelled to Lardner Park to attend the careers expo. This is a large event attended by many schools where students get the opportunity to explore a variety of future career pathways. Students moved around the large area visiting many different stalls and learnt a lot about the opportunities they can take advantage of as they make decisions about their future pathways. Students got lots of goodies on the day as well as great advice and information. 

Art 

Students have been working on showing how specific animals are endangered in an artwork in the shape of their chosen animal. They are visually describing the impact of human actions on the animals of our world.  

Students have been learning about art appropriation and how to be respectful when using another artist’s work as a reference. They have chosen a known cartoon and mixed features from their cartoon with features from ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ by Katsushika Hokusai. Concept Art students have worked on paper, while 3D Art students have created a Relief Style artwork version.
