100 Days of School

During week 1, students in V5, V6 and V7 celebrated being at school for 100 days this year. Some students chose to dress as "old people" and others came dressed in outfits depicting what they would like to be when they grow up. It was a great way to recognise this milestone and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve in their next 100 days.

Are you ready to learn?

As part of our BSEM learning across the school, students have been determining if they are Ready to Learn. Being ready to learn allows students to recognise their emotions, take ownership of the strategies that help them to self-regulate and be able to demonstrate what this means to them.

In P6 & P9, students have developed their own Ready to Learn Scales using language and pictures that are meaningful to them as individuals. Teachers across the school are continuing to work on implementing these strategies and supporting students with co-regulation and self-regulation throughout each day.

SAPSASA

Next week, 2 teams of students will participate in the SAPSASA basketball carnival and another squad will head to the athletics day. It is a special opportunity for our students to represent Para Vista Primary School in SAPSASA and we wish them lots of luck with their competitions.

Book Week 2023

Book Week will be held during Week 5 and the theme is "Read, Grow, Inspire". We will hold a parade on Thursday 24th August where students can come dressed in something that reflects the Book Week theme or as a character from a book. Families are welcome to join us outside for the celebration.

On Wednesday 30th August, all R-6 students will attend a performance called Way Too Cool  which is a new educational musical created to celebrate CBCA Book Week 2023 and the theme READ, GROW, INSPIRE. It is a highly interactive musical adventure that explores situations that every audience member will be able to relate to. The performance is in partnership with The Children’s Book Council of Australia and the cost will be covered by the school. We hope all students enjoy the performance.

Term 2 Casual Day

On the Casual Day last term, we raised $146.10 for the Tjindu Foundation.

For many Aboriginal language groups in SA, Tjindu ( pronounced Jin-Doo ) is the word for the sun, or sunshine. Tjindu Foundation creates opportunities for Aboriginal children and young people to develop their own bright futures and they thank us for our donation.

The Term 3 casual day will contribute to play time equipment for the students to use.
