Dear Parents and Carers

Respectful relationships, child safety, and human sexuality education

A Parent-School Partnership

At St Joseph’s, we are committed to the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and to partnering with our families to ensure you are informed and involved in promoting child safeguarding.

Our young people are currently exposed to a narrative around relationships, either online or over other media, and it is important that together we present students with a positive and respectful narrative about relationships within a Catholic education context.

This evening at 6:00 pm, all parents and carers have been invited to an information session related to student learning from Kindergarten to Year 6 on:

  • Respectful relationships
  • Child safety
  • Human sexuality education.

Recently, I sent parents of students in every class a letter informing you of units of work currently underway in classrooms. The session this evening is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to keep children safe and help them to experience a life that is full and inclusive of respectful, caring relationships now and into the future. Your attendance will enhance our partnership with you and contribute to a shared understanding so that children are well supported.

The session this evening will contain the same content as the sessions in 2022. All parents and carers are welcome but don’t feel the need to attend if you came last year.

For all things at St Joseph's, we give thanks.

Mrs Jen Charadia

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
