Mission and Identity

Term 3:
Term 3 brings with it an array of opportunities to celebrate who we are as a family of faith, where all are welcome and included. In addition to Monday morning Mass that is offered weekly, please see below for important events of worship, celebration and contemplation for Term 3:
Contemplation Corner:
'Most of us were taught that God would love us if and when we change. In fact, God loves you so that you can change. What empowers change, what makes you desirous of change is the experience of love that becomes the engine of change.'
Fr Richard Rohr, Falling Upward
Questions for Contemplation:
Where have I experienced transformational love this week?
When have I been a source of this love for those around me?
When, where or through whom have I felt this love of God in my life?
Saints in Focus:
The American Iconographer and religious artist Gracie Morbitzer writes:
'The saints were hopeless, spunky, terrified, lonely, individualistic, rebellious, progressive, loving, ambitious, counter-cultural, or boisterous outcasts and sinners who reached beyond themselves and made the world and themselves so much better. They were some of the original social justice warriors, and they can inspire us even in our present day.'
Just as we have seasons to mark changes in the environment and watches to mark time, we have ‘feast days’ within the Church calendar to act as mirrors for reflection on our own lives. These feast days honour ordinary people who answered yes to God’s call in their life in an extraordinary way.
This Saturday we honour Saint Mary Magdalene. Correctly known as the ‘Apostle to the Apostles’, she has been the victim of mistaken identity for almost 20 centuries. To learn more about this key figure from the Resurrection, please click here for further details.
Social Justice: Year 10 and 11 – Centacare Solidarity Program
Students from Years 10 and 11 each spent a day working with Centacare Industries, a warehousing operation employing people who live with a range of Intellectual Disabilities. These students represented the College with excellence, partaking in the Life Skills and Work Skills part of the program, interacting with Centacare staff and gaining an insight into building capacity for those living with disability.
Bunnings BBQs Supporting Chatswood Parish
During the Holidays, our Year 10 boys continued in their volunteering program with Chatswood Parish, cooking up a storm for a range of Bunnings BBQs. The Parish extends its congratulations to those involved throughout the three BBQ days that students have rostered!
BeConnected Program – Starts Next Week!
A reminder to all BeConnected Student Mentors for Term 3 that the program will start next Tuesday, 25 July. Participants are to meet Mr Balboa at 3:25 pm near the D-Block Gates.
