I CAN Online Mentoring Program
Over the past three years, the I CAN Online Mentoring Program has supported over 3000 young mentees in building their confidence and communication skills. The sessions, led by experienced mentors, have assisted mentees to build their confidence and develop skills while connecting with those around them. I CAN now offers mentoring programs in the afternoons and evenings 5 days a week!
Their Online Mentoring program provides the opportunity for young Autistic people from across Australia to work towards their NDIS goals (and personal goals) whilst in the comfort of their own home. They offer a warm, accepting, and neuroaffirming environment in the online Zoom sessions, which run for 1 hour per week in 6-week cycles. They run Special Interest groups (Minecraft, Roblox, Animals, Drawing & Art etc.) as well as I CAN groups, which are focussed upon developing positive self-esteem and Autistic identity through strengths-based discussions of sensory needs, change, transitions, and self-care.
They also run LGBTIQA+ groups for 13–22-year-olds that are led by LGBTIQA+ staff and discuss the intersection between Autistic & Queer identity, social connection, culture, gender, and sexuality.

Wellbeing goes to the Formal
Sabatinie, Megan and Jane from the Student Services Wellbeing Team had the opportunity to go celebrate the Year 12s at the Formal earlier this month. We feel so honoured to have seen the students we support let their hair down (or hair up…in their up-dos…). Our highlights were: the band (special mention to ‘Teenage Dirtbag’, and ‘Mr Brightside’), the photobooth, and seeing the gorgeous outfits that we’ve talked to the Year 12s about for weeks.
Can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Body Kind- Butterfly Foundation
September is Butterfly Foundation’s BODY KIND month. Finding ways to like, accept, love, or even feel positive about your body can be challenging in the world we live in today, but we can all try to be a little kinder. Being Body Kind is how we nourish, nurture and move our bodies. It’s about the language we use out loud, online, and in our heads – to ourselves and others.
Watch this video to find out more about what it means to be body kind. For more information or support go to: Support for Eating Disorders and Body Image Issues | Butterfly Foundation
