100 Days of Prep

A festive atmosphere filled Holy Cross as we commemorated our Prep children's 100th day of school this past Thursday. To celebrate, both children and teachers donned the attire of yesteryears, transforming into senior members of our community. The children spent time immersed in vintage games alongside their Year Six buddies resulting in lots of laughter, and participated in a variety of activities around the theme of '100'. To top off the festivities, the children all shared a delicious morning tea together, sipping hot chocolates around a beautifully decorated table. Congratulations to all our prep children on an amazing 100 days of school.

Girl's Footy

This Tuesday the Holy Cross Girls' footy team took to the field at Galvin Park Reserve for the Regions Football tournament. With another week of training behind them, the team was determined to make their mark. On the big day they played beautifully in the first two games, winning with scores of 39 - 0 and 48 - 0. The last round was a very tough match. The team fought hard, but unfortunately didn't quite win the last game.  A big hank you to Tamara Collins for volunteering to assist with the training program over these past few weeks. Another thank you to Luke Wenczel for coaching the team throughout each event. Congratulations to the Holy Cross Girls' footy team for their remarkable performance and for making it so far in the tournament. Well done!

Eucharist Faith Night

There was a wonderful positive atmosphere and strong turn out at our Eucharist Faith Night this Tuesday. Families sat together, sharing stories about their own personal experiences of their First Eucharist and what Eucharist means to them in their lives. Our Holy Cross staff also conveyed the significance of Eucharist in our daily lives and shared photos and images to support the discussion. To finish the evening families collobrated together to design a Eucharist symbol which will be used at the children's first Eucharist Mass.

Sustainability

Our Holy Cross children have recently been working on a sustainable garden project. They undertook the task of revitalizing the garden beds, opting for an environmentally conscious approach. By removing some of the introduced plants and introducing vibrant native flora, they not only enhanced the garden's beauty but also contributed to local biodiversity. The team also took on a mini upcycling project, repurposing used resources like milk cartons to fashion protective plant guards, ensuring the delicate seedlings are shielded. Thank you to Matt Szostak, Belinda Briganti, Suzette Radin and James & Alvie Blake for your time and support with this project. Great work everyone, and thank you to the wonderful Caitlyn for guiding the project.

MS Readathon

The MS readathon is a fundraiser for Multiple sclerosis.  People can create a team and log books and pages as they read, participants gain sponsors to raise money.

What is Multiple sclerosis?

It's a neurological condition, meaning it affects your nerves. Nerves are great for sending messages between the brain and the body. But nerves don't work the right way in a person who has multiple sclerosis, or MS. That means the signals don't get where they need to go. People with MS may have trouble walking.

The Readathon

Holy Cross has a school team. Students join by adding a profile where people can donate money and can see all the books that you have read. Holy Cross’s fundraising officially starts on the 1st August and ends on 31st August.  This means we have the whole month of August to support this great cause.

So far my sister and I have raised over $1300, in the past 4 days. We are very happy and grateful for all of our sponsors and their generous donations.

Holy cross would be very grateful if you could team up with us to reach our school goal.
