YEAR 3 - 6 News

FROM 4 / 5 A

As we get closer to Book Week, 4/5A explored a shortlisted book for this year called “Australia: From dawn to dusk”. This book explores Australia and follows the sun for a whole day throughout many different places in our beautiful country. It also describes the animals found on the land that we call home so we decided to recreate the places in the text. Here’s what we found out…

Ruby: “I recreated Sydney Harbour. Sydney is known for its luxury and high rise buildings. Did you know it is the 12th most expensive city in the world? It was also the site of the 1st European Colony when the first fleet came from England”.

Martha: “I recreated Kangaroo Island. Did you know Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest island after Tasmania and Melville island? It is also seven times the size of Singapore”.

Pepper: “I recreated Flinders Ranges. Did you know it is the largest mountain range in South Australia?  It starts 200 km north of Adelaide. Lots of animals live in Flinders Ranges including red kangaroos, western grey kangaroos and wallabies”.

Sebi and Chloe: “We recreated Uluru. Did you know Uluru is 348km high and 3.6km long? It also weighs over 1 million tonnes”.
