Principal's Report

Schools are a busy place, as are the lives of students and families, so I would like to thank the parents and carers who are finding the time to regularly engage with the College on a range of matters, whether that be through our Parent/Teacher/Student conversations, Compass communications or emails with staff. These are all important steps for improving engagement, connection and partnerships with families and ultimately, outcomes for our students.

The last couple of weeks have been exciting for our students and their sporting endeavours as they have represented the College in a range of areas. We certainly have a number of talented young sports men and women here at St Joseph's College and I would like to congratulate them on their various achievements.

It was also wonderful to acknowledge the academic achievements of our students at our inaugural Semester 1 Academic Awards last week. These students continue to work hard to achieve high results and it was a joy to see them celebrated for their efforts, alongside our school community and their families.

This week we also witnessed two of our exceptional young students recongised for their achievements and exempolary behaviour at a Sandhurst secondary colleges level, in receiving the Bishop Joseph Grech Scholarship.

On Tuesday we had a full staff professional learning day which focused on the Berry Street Education Model.  This model is about improving student engagement and learning, particularly in response to trauma. This day was the first of four sessions that we will participate in over the next 18 months and staff are already implementing some of the strategies they have learnt.

Our Kildare Campus is thriving, we have hosted some afternoon tours, House morning teas for parents/carers and we are looking forward to hosting the wider community on the morning of Saturday August 12.

God Bless.
