News and Notices

 From the Principal

I am a little astounded that it is August already and we are racing towards Summer and hopefully some warm, sunny days. We were incredibly fortunate to have two glorious days this week for the Mud Run and Rippa Rugby. It is wonderful to me that this year we have had the largest number of students taking part in the Mud Run and in Rippa that we have had for many years. One of the key competencies that our children learn about is Participating and Contributing, and we definitely nailed that one.

Thank you for your support as we combined and reorganised classes to accomodate our very sick staff members.

Upcoming events:

25 August @ 9am: Whole school assembly where children share their learning

31 August: Student-led Conferences

Please note that school will finish at 12.45pm on this day.

8 September: Movie Night

Please note that this date has changed. We will confirm which movie we are showing soon.

18/18 September: Life Education (Dates TBC)

Fundraising on day of election

I am looking for community members who would be prepared to cook or sell sausages for half an hour between 11 and 2pm. This would be a great chance for us to raise some money for the school. Please email me on principal@ridgeview.school.nz if you can help for a short while.

Sandwiches

Thank you to everyone who has contributed goods or time to help us make sandwiches on a Wednesday. This has been very successful. Please note that the sandwiches are for ALL students.

Knitting and Crocheting

We are still looking for knitting needles and crochet hooks to use with wool. If you have some that you could either donate or loan to the school, please let me know.

Community Volunteers

I am looking for opportunities to take small groups of children (3 or 4) into the community on Friday morning for an hour or two. If you know of someone we could help or something we could do, please make contact with the school.

Pedestrian Crossing

Please reiterate the importance of using the pedestrian crossing with your children and of waiting for the duty teacher to tell them it is safe to cross. We have had two incidents in the last fortnight where children saw their parents and just ran straight into the road.

Pohutukawa Bush

All of the schools in our Kahui Ako (Community of Learners) were given a pohutukawa bush to grow in memory of the Pohutukawa star and all our loved ones. We have planted it outside the reception door.

Spare Clothes

Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform. This is for all children.

Telephone Number

Our new telephone number is 027 593 5963.
