Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Winter is well and truly here and I hope you have all coped with the cold and blustery conditions in recent weeks. On these days, as we keep warm in our beautiful homes and eat hot, home cooked meals, it is a fitting time to pray for those who are less fortunate and struggling with the Winter weather;

Lord,

Your door is always open to us.

Help us to keep our doors open to all who struggle with poverty and homelessness.

Give us open hearts to recognize our sisters and brothers in need, particularly during these cold Winter months.

Fill us with the will to work in our community and country towards ending the pain and waste that poverty and homelessness create.

We ask this through Jesus, who emptied himself of all, but love.

Amen.

Eucharist and Confirmation Presentation Masses

Congratulations to all the children and families who attended the first of the Eucharist and Confirmation Presentation Masses. We look forward to supporting the children and walking with them as they prepare for this very important time in their lifelong faith journey.

Best Wishes to Dani and Xavier

Last Friday we farewelled Dani Allan as she prepares for the birth of her first child in 5 weeks. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank Dani for her outstanding contributions over the past 3 years. We wish Dani and Xavier well during this exciting time in their lives.

Paul Parish has taught Dani’s Prep class this week and Adam Garner will join our staff next week, replacing Dani for the remainder of the year.

Food Bank

Last week I put a call out for more volunteers to provide meals for our food bank. A big thank you to those who responded, it was much appreciated. This is a small, yet really important part of our catholic school culture and is always appreciated and well received by families. We are still looking for more volunteers, so if you are able to contribute, please contact the school office.

Working With Children Checks

With our Prep-2 swimming program commencing last week, we asked for parents to assist staff with getting the children changed at the end of lessons. Thank you to those who were able to give up their valuable time. Please note that all volunteers in schools now require a WWCC.

You can apply online at http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/utility/home/

Once you have obtained your WWCC please present it to the office so we can keep a copy on file.

Keeping our children safe is our number one priority and of the utmost importance. However, having our wonderful parent community involved in the life of the school is also extremely important, so I urge as many parents as possible to obtain a WWCC and present it to the office at your earliest convenience.

Wheels on Wednesday

Our Wheels On Wednesday program will commence for Term 3 next Wednesday August 2nd. Each Wednesday, for the remainder of the term, children can bring a scooter or roller blades to be used in the school carpark during breaks. Can I ask that children come prepared with helmets and scooters adjusted accordingly, ready for use. To participate, parent permission is required on the PAM.

A reminder that this Monday July 31st is a pupil free day.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
