Things You Should Know

Car Parking
Due to the current growth of the school and the increase in cars in the carpark, it is imperative that parents do not wait for extended periods of time within the designated one minute parking areas. Families who do so may be asked to move.
It is also important that you do not exit your vehicles in the one minute zones. If you need to do so, please find a carpark in the designated parking areas.
To assist with afternoon streamlining, we encourage the following pick up routine:
Kinder: 3pm-3.15pm
Primary Only: 3.20pm-3.35pm
Secondary Only: 3.40pm onwards
This will help in alleviating some of our current carpark congestion.
Fire Track
The school would like to advise families that parking or pick up along any area of the fire track that runs through the school grounds is prohibited. The fire track exists to ensure emergency vehicles have access if needed, and for staff to get to staff parking areas before and after school. To ensure the safety of students in the school grounds, we therefore kindly request that families refrain from using this track.
Bushfire
Management Plan
Please find attached the School's Bushfire Management and Disaster Plan. We encourage all families to download this document and take time to read through it. Please contact Reception if you have any questions or concerns.
Tiqbiz
The School uses Tiqbiz as its preferred method of communication. It's easy to download and saves our environment by eliminating the need for lots of paper copies. The system is far more efficient than email and is class specific. If you have not yet downloaded the app, we would love to see you get on board. Tiqbiz offers everything in one place from the Canteen to the Newsletter. As well as having everything in one place, it will also be the School's main method of communication in case of an emergency.
Tiqbiz is the perfect tool for advising the school of your child's absence. Select the Whole School Button then the Absence Button and simply fill out the form. Quick and easy, no phone calls required.
If you would like to download the app, but technology isn't your strength, feel free to come into Reception and one of our staff will be happy to help you. We know those who have downloaded it are enjoying it. Information comes to you in one easy place. Why not download it today??
Absentees
Families are reminded to contact the school if a child is going to be absent. As a school, we are legally required to make note of a student’s absence and the reason for their absence. You can inform the school of your child’s absence by leaving a voicemail message, contacting Reception directly, emailing, using Tiqbiz or sending a note. Voicemail messages can be left by dialling 299 any time during the welcome message or after hours message. Emails can be sent to office@bhcs.vic.edu.au
In cases where the School does not appear to have received advice, families will be contacted to inquire about the child’s whereabouts.
Camp Australia
We would like to remind families that Before and After School Care are both available for BHCS families through Camp Australia. For more information, please see the attached document.
School Accounts
We are currently in the process of issuing your annual school fees account. These should arrive via email within the next two weeks. Should you have any queries regarding your school account, please contact Liz Stewart in the Finance Office.
Student Personal Accident Insurance
The School has a group accident insurance policy for all current enrolled students. This is for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, worldwide coverage. This insurance covers medical expenses arising from an accident, which are not covered by Medicare or your Health Insurance. It excludes illness, disease, self inflicted injuries etc. The cost of this insurance forms part of your annual fees. Should you have the need to make a claim during the course of the year, please contact Liz Stewart in Finance.
