Spotlight on Students

Music Lessons - Kindergarten and Stage 1

Stage 1 have been learning about environmental soundscapes (visual and audio). We have been learning an Aboriginal song from Aunty Wendy's Mob, using actions and instruments to represent the movements and sounds of animals in the bush.

Kindergarten are using sounds and movement to explore insects around us. We discussed and sang about bees and used ribbon sticks to mimic the Flight of the Bumblebee. We are also learning songs to practice beat and rhythm on ourselves, a partner and as a trio.

 Kindergarten

Kindergarten has been learning about narratives and reading the book 'Where Going on a Bear Hunt'. Part of their learning journey included their own hunt, a Principal hunt! Students walked around the school looking for Mrs Shipley focussing on prepositional language such as on, over and under. They collaboratively (with some help from the teachers) came up with their own Principal Hunt oral story. When they returned to class students independently drew detailed story maps that sequenced their Principal hunt. We are so proud of all the Kindergarten students' work!
