Welcome back to Term 2. We hope you had a relaxing holiday and look forward to a productive term. 

Key Dates

The Next Fortnight of Learning

Literacy

Our phonics focus for the next two weeks is 'oa' as in goat eating toast and 'ar' as in art party. We will continue to review the sounds taught in term one.

Our reading focus is to compare the features of fiction and non-fiction texts. Our mentor text is Bin Chicken. 

In writing students will be learning to recognise different types of punctuation including exclamation marks to signal a sentence that signals emotion. 

 

Maths 

Students are learning to develop their place value knowledge to 100. They will also be investigating number lines. Students will also be practicing their oral counting by 1's, 2's and 10's to 100. 

 

Inquiry

Our inquiry unit for the term is called Places and Spaces. Student will investigate elements of community. They will discuss services in their own community and why the community has been designed in a particular way. 

The habits of mind associated with the inquiry unit are persisting and thinking and community with clarity and precision. 

 

Wellbeing 

Our Term 2 topic for Resilience Rights and Respectful Relationships is Personal Strengths. During this unit students will learn to identify and describe their personal strengths, explain how these strengths contribute to family and school life. Students will also explore ways to care for others, including ways of making and keeping friends.

Reminders 

Humpty Dumpty 

Each week students explore a nursery rhyme or poem. These lessons focus on the language features of the text, students ability to read fluently and a creative response.
