Interview with Melinda Docker

 Year 1 Teacher

How long have you worked at

BNPS?

I started working at BNPS in 2003. I left in 2013 to have my first child and returned briefly to do some relief teaching. I returned mid last year to BNPS.

Who inspires you?

My grandad recently turned 101. He has done many wonderful things in his life. He has helped so many people and brought so much joy to those around him.

What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?

On weekends I love spending time with my family. I enjoy going to the beach with my 3 boys and golden retriever Rex. I also love reading, exercising, relaxing, eating delicious food and catching up with my friends.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I am most definitely an early bird. I love to wake while it’s still dark. I exercise and enjoy the peace and quiet before everyone else is awake.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

When I was much younger one of my favourite hobbies was fire twirling.

What recently made you smile?

My beautiful 1D class make me smile every morning at circle time.

If you could swap places for a day, who would you choose?

My cat so I could laze around in the sunshine all day long.

What would you like to say to your students?

Be kind, be honest, be loving, be true and all of these things will come back to you.
